Happy Christmas Eve to those who celebrate.  Today is a crazy day for me.  In honor of my children's fathers heritage, I celebrate the Italian tradition of the 7 fishes dinner for this evenings celebration. Somtimes this can be overwhelming.  Days like this I really have to take a step back and say is this just a molehill?

I simply love that quote from Ringo about meditation and the old Zen saying in the photo. Both are spot on. So often we run ourselves ragged through the day and let work and life get the best of us. Our minds go a mile a minute worrying about this, that and the other thing. We try to solve our problems and everyone else's. We get aggravated by others who sometimes just don't understand. We find ourselves making mountains out of molehills - just as Ringo explained.


It's really a good idea to step back from every situation that you find irritating, aggravating, or troublesome in any way shape or form. Regroup, re-evaluate and analyze it. Is it really that bad? Could it be worse? If you can't solve the problem, can you ask someone for help so that you're not so stressed? Does the other person just need the situation or problem explained to them in more detail or in a better way? Do you just need to have more patience? (it is a virtue you know)


If you've never tried meditation before you should give it a try. Start out small 5 to 10 minutes just sitting in silence. Try not to think of anything. To help just count 1 to 9 over and over again if a thought pops into your head accept it and let it go. Then start counting again. Some people sit in complete silence, others have gentle music or nature sounds playing in the background. The idea is to simply clear your mind and relax. It really is amazing.
