Nature & Forest Therapy

Nature & Forest Therapy is based on the Japanese practice of Shinrin Yoku aka Forest Bathing, which was developed in the 1980s in response to a health crisis identified by the Japanese government called "Karoshi" aka "Death by overwork."

Nature & Forest Therapy has numerous scientifically documented health benefits including reduced stress, lower cortisol levels, reduced blood pressure and an increase in NK (natural killer) white blood cell count, in turn boosting the immune system.  It also results in an improved heart rate variability and helps with insomnia, focus and creativity.  

Corporate groups use Nature & Forest Therapy to help their employees develop clarity and to increase focus and productivity.  The practice can also be a great team building activity. 

The effects of a single walk can last 2 weeks to a month.  A continued weekly or biweekly practice vs. attending once in a while helps you to achieve and maintain optimal health results.

Attending a walk with a certified guide such as Dawn-Marie, is more beneficial than going it alone as it allows you to partake in the activities without worrying about time or what to do next. In turn, allowing you to have a more relaxed and beneficial practice.  

Walks are generally, close to level (no climbing required), less than a mile in length and last about 2 to 3 hours depending on how many participants there are.  To allow you to experience nature in all of it's glory Nature & Forest Therapy Walks take place in all types of weather (unless hazardous to do so).  

Bringing nature into the office environment also has its benefits! Dawn-Marie also provides consulting & design services to help you and your employees bring nature in for continued optimal heath results.
